Canon 20
Overview
This canon condemns obtaining or conferring ordination through gifts and imposes deposition and exclusion from communion.
1Canon 20. Concerning one who appoints through gifts.
2If a bishop, presbyter, or deacon obtains the rank of ordination through gifts, let him be deposed. Let the one who appointed him also be deposed and be cut off forever from the order of the priesthood; no one shall have communion with him in any way, just as I, Peter, put Simon the Sorcerer away from me.
