This section presents the opening invocation and identifies the work as the Synod of the Holy Apostles, attributed to Clement concerning his teacher Peter, known as the Canons of Abtilis, comprising eighty-one decrees.

2This is the Synod of the Holy Apostles, and this is that which Clement wrote concerning his teacher Peter, and this is named the Canons of Abtilis, which were gathered above by his apostles for our Lord Jesus Christ, and their number is eighty-one canons.
