Abtilis
Canon 69
Overview
This canon forbids the sale or transfer of church property, citing divine law and the example of Nebuchadnezzar, and prescribes expulsion for violators.
1Abṭelis, 69. All who are of the church, whether of the holy vessels or of the silver vessels, must not sell or transfer them to anyone. They are to remain in their place, for this is the law commanded by God to His beloved, the faithful. Consider what God did to Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon. But if anyone gives the property of the church to God, and does as it is commanded, he is to be praised and not expelled from the church.
