Canon 31
Overview
This canon states that a priest or deacon who opposes a bishop without a valid reason of false accusation or slander against God, based on a pretext of name, shall not be received, unless the bishop has died, been deposed, or fled.
1Abṭelis, 31. If a priest or deacon opposes a bishop because of a false accusation which he does not say, or slander against God, on the pretext of a name, and he is not faithful to the bishops, let him not be received. Unless it is that he who opposes has abandoned, or has fled, or has died. For he is the one who was appointed, and his life is in the one who was appointed, and in the one who is appointed, let him be cast out from his work, and he shall be the one who is cast out from his work, by the hand of the law.
