Canon 32
Overview
This canon establishes the protocol for receiving traveling clergy from distant regions, requiring verification of their ordination and reputation before granting hospitality or communion.
1Abṭelis, 32. A bishop, presbyter, or deacon who comes as a stranger from distant lands shall not be received unless they present letters of ordination. If they present such letters, their conduct shall be examined. If they are found to be faithful and righteous men, they shall be received with good hospitality. If they are not found to be such, they shall be given only what is necessary for their journey and shall not be admitted to communion with the children of the Church, lest many who do not know their conduct write letters for them, deceiving the mind.
