Canon 29

1Abṭelis, 29. If a bishop seeks honor for his name through people, through flattery, and through the vanity of this world, so that he is elevated above the name of the church, and he permits and oppresses the people of God, the pure and the holy, if he takes their pure possessions, if he enters the holy baptism, and if he is elevated above them by those who do not desire it, and if he rules over the church which is not his, and he is not a servant over it. In the same way, the church, if that one, the chief priest, and the priests under his hand, for that chief priest, and he extends his hand, that is the bishop, for the command of that church, and for the command of its priests, or of the monks, for that one is the mind, except for the chief priest who is over them. He is cursed, accursed, and let him be cast out of the church of God. He is the one, and all who seek him above that one, and who follow him, let them be cast out.
