Overview
This statute directs deacons to perform good works continually, care impartially for the poor, encourage almsgiving, and fulfill their ministry without fault.
1Concerning deacons, that they should be doers of good works.
2Endreyas said: Deacons shall do good works by night and by day, for everyone and in every place. They shall not exalt themselves over the poor and needy or show partiality to the rich. They shall seek out those who have nothing and give them from what remains. They shall also instruct those who have something to give alms to them, so that they may do what our Lord said: “I was hungry, and you fed me.”
3For whoever performs the ministry well and without fault shall inherit a place of rest.
