Overview
Cephas gives instructions about reconciliation, impartial judgment, confident prayer, generosity, and sharing possessions with those in need.
1Cephas said: O my son, you shall not cause division among people, but shall reconcile in peace those who quarrel. Judge justly, and do not show partiality to a rich man when he is a sinner, because riches are of no advantage before God. Nor shall you honor the great or intercede for him with a written document; instead, all shall be equal with you in all things.
2You shall not doubt when you pray. Rather, consider well what you desire, and he will then fulfill it for you. Do not be one who, when you open your hand, thinks about what you will then gain, but who, when you have finished receiving, draws it back toward yourself.
3If you have anything in your hand, give it, and seek deliverance from your sin. You shall not doubt when you give; and when you pray, you shall receive with gladness and know who it is who will repay you.
4You shall not turn away anyone who begs from you, but shall share everything with the needy. Nor shall you say about anything, “My goods are mine alone.” If you have become sharers together in what is incorruptible, how much more should you share in what is corruptible?
