Overview
This canon orders Sunday worship at the third hour, including prayer, scriptural reading, and the Eucharistic offering, and gives reasons for observing that day.
1Commandment concerning the Christian Sabbath. They are to gather every Sunday at the third hour for prayer, for the reading of the books of the Old and the New, and for offering the Eucharist. For on that day the angel announced to Mary that she would conceive Christ; on that day he rose from the dead; and on that day, the day of resurrection, he will descend from heaven with his angels in great glory. He will sit with his holy disciples and judge the living and the dead.
