Canon 47
Overview
This canon requires bishops and other ministers to observe the Forty-Day Fast and the Wednesday and Friday fasts, except when bodily illness prevents them.
1Commandment 47. Concerning one who does not fast the Forty-Day Fast, Wednesday, and Friday. If a bishop, presbyter, deacon, reader, or singer does not fast the holy Forty-Day Fast, Wednesday, and Friday, he shall be deposed, unless bodily illness prevents him. If he is a layperson, he shall be expelled.
