Chapter 43

1These are the names of those who were ordained by us. First in Jerusalem was James, the brother of our Lord. After him Simeon son of Cleopas was ordained in his place, and after him Judas son of James. In Caesarea of Palestine, first was Zacchaeus the publican, after him Cornelius, and after him Theophilus. In Antioch, first was Evodius, ordained by Peter, and after him Ignatius, ordained by Paul. In Alexandria, first was Annianus, ordained by Mark the Evangelist, and after him [Avilius], ordained by Luke the Evangelist.

2In the Church of Rome, first was Linus, ordained by Paul, and after him Clement, ordained by Peter. In Ephesus, first was Timothy, ordained by Paul, and after him John was ordained by John the Evangelist. In Smyrna, first was Aristos, after him Strataeas son of [Lois], and after him Ariston. In Pergamus, first was Gaius. In Philadelphia, first was Demetrius, ordained by Peter. In [Cenchreae], first was Lucius, ordained by Paul. In Crete was Titus, and in Athens, Dionysius. In the three cities of Phoenicia was [Marthones]. In Laodicea was Archippus, and in Colossae, Philemon. In Macedonia and Beroea was Onesimus, the servant of Philemon. In the Church of Galatia was Crescens. In the region of Asia were Aquila and Nicetas. In the Church of Aegina was Crispus.

3These are the ones whom we entrusted with the churches, ordained in Jerusalem, and sent out to preach and teach in their respective regions. Remember their labor, receive their admonition, and observe their words. May the Lord be with you from now on and forever, just as he said to us when he was ascending into heaven to the Father: “Behold, I am with you every day, until the end of the world.”
