Overview
This canon prohibits a bishop from bequeathing his ecclesiastical office or church property to his relatives or favorites, affirming that the priesthood and divine commands are not hereditary.
1Abṭelis, 82. It is not permitted for a bishop to bequeath his office to his nephew, nor to his brother, nor to his sister, nor to his son, nor to his relative, nor to his favorite. Nor should he seek to bequeath the priesthood or transgress the command of God. The command of a bishop is not that he should permit and allow the church of God to be inherited by his household.
