Abtilis

Canon 45

Overview

This canon forbids any bishop, priest, deacon, or layman from associating with heretics, eating with them, or drinking with them, and condemns those who do so as unclean and unworthy of the church.

1Abṭelis, Canon 45: If a bishop, or a priest, or a deacon, or a layman from the people, or from the priests, or from the deacons, associates with heretics, or eats with them, or drinks with them, or invites them to his house, and does not rebuke them, let him be removed from his office, for he has made himself unclean. And if he does not rebuke them, let him be removed from his office, for he has made himself unclean, and he is not worthy to be received, for he has made himself unclean.
