Overview
James prohibits various forms of divination, astrology, magic, and dealings with omens, identifying them as leading to idolatry.
1James said: “My son, you shall not be an interpreter of prodigies or an augur, because all these things lead to idolatry. You shall not be a wizard, a charmer, a chooser of hours, a chooser of days, an astrologer, a magician, or one of those who deal with omens. You shall not desire to become acquainted with them, because all this is idolatry for you.”
