Canon 45
Overview
This canon gives rules concerning prayer in Jewish or heretical places, fatal violence, and the violation of an unbetrothed virgin.
1Commandment 45. If any priest or layperson enters a synagogue of the Jews or a place of heretics in order to pray, the priest shall be deposed and the layperson expelled.
2Concerning one who strikes a person until he dies, and one who violates a virgin. If a priest quarrels with another person, strikes him, and he dies, the priest shall be deposed because of the hardness of his heart. If the offender is a layperson, he shall be expelled.
3If a layman takes a virgin by force before she is betrothed and lies with her, he shall be expelled. He shall not marry another, but shall remain with the one whom he violated, even if she is poor and despised.
