Canon 43
Overview
This canon prescribes deposition for clergy, and expulsion for laypeople, who eat meat containing lifeblood, meat from an animal attacked by a wild beast, or carrion.
1Commandment 43. If a bishop, presbyter, deacon, or any one of the ordained priests eats flesh in which is its lifeblood, from an animal that was not slaughtered, or flesh from an animal bitten by a wild beast, or carrion, he shall be deposed, as the law commanded concerning it. If he is a layperson, he shall be expelled.
