Canon 32
Overview
This canon addresses the prohibition of clergy and laypeople from associating with heretics, prescribing excommunication for bishops, priests, and deacons who do so, and expulsion for lower clergy and laity.
1Command 32: Concerning those who associate with heretics. If a bishop, priest, or deacon associates with heretics and invites them to eat and drink, he shall be excommunicated. If he does not, he shall be expelled. If a subdeacon, reader, or singer does this, they shall be excommunicated. If they do not, they shall be expelled. The same applies to laypeople. If a bishop, priest, or deacon commands and invites them, he shall be anathematized. If he does not, he shall be deposed.
