Overview
This canon regulates the date of the celebration of Easter (Pascha), forbidding celebration before the Jewish Passover and prescribing penalties for those who violate this rule.
1Canon of Abtilis: If a bishop, or a priest, or a deacon celebrates Pascha before the fourteenth day of the month, and the fourteenth night, and he does this, let it be imputed to him as the Jews, and he shall celebrate Pascha with them. Let him be deposed and removed. But if he celebrates Pascha after the fourteenth day and the fourteenth night, let him be deposed and removed from his office, and let him be dismissed.
