Canon 65
Overview
This canon mandates that clergy must observe the major fasts of the church, specifically the forty-day fast, Wednesday, and Friday, unless prevented by illness.
1Abṭelis, 65. If a priest does not observe the great fast of forty days, nor Wednesday, nor Friday, as the law of the church commands, he is to be removed from his office, unless he is prevented by a bodily disease or a known illness that makes it impossible. But if he does the same, he is to be expelled from the church.
