Canon 36

1Abṭelis, 36. We command that a synod be held. Let them gather twice a year and inquire among themselves for the new fear of God, and that there be no error in the faith, and that they know that nothing new is done among them by their own will, regarding the law, the order of their churches, and their conditions, and everything that is done by a man from judgment, not by the will of their bishop or their Patriarch. But if there is a dispute among the people, let them know it and reconcile them. Let the first synod be on the fourth week after Pentecost, before May, which is the month of Ayar, and in the calculation of Egypt, in Sanes, which is Ginbot. After Pentecost, let there be another synod when the twelfth of Tisri, the first, and in the calculation of Egypt, the spirit of the month of Ab, which is Teqemt, after the Feast of the Cross.
