Canon 17
Overview
This canon forbids the ordination of a man who has married a woman who was previously married, a widow, or a woman who has been in a state of captivity, or a pagan woman, deeming such a union incompatible with clerical office.
1Abṭelis, 17. If a man has married a woman who was previously married, or a widow, or a woman who has been in captivity, or a pagan woman, let him not be made a bishop, a presbyter, a deacon, or one who is raised from the rank of the priesthood.
