Overview
This canon commands prayer at the ninth hour on Friday and connects the observance with Christ’s suffering, crucifixion, and the signs accompanying them.
1Commandment concerning Friday. They are to pray on Friday at the ninth hour, for on Friday what Christ had told them on Wednesday concerning his suffering and crucifixion came to pass. He was [täṭäyäqä] when the earth shook and the sun was darkened on that day.
