Sirate Tsion

Canon 25

Overview

This commandment excludes proud and contemptuous persons from ecclesiastical office and warns that such a person will lose both honor and priesthood.

1Commandment.

2No one who exalts himself, boasts over others, considers himself greater, more honorable, or better than other people, or looks upon the people of God with contempt shall hold office or draw near to it. Rather, he is contemptible before God and dishonored. He shall have no good remembrance during his life, no mercy before God at his death, and he shall be removed from his priesthood.

3Concerning him the Lord said in Scripture, “I will transfer grace from those who exalt themselves to another.”
