Chapter 14: Joseph’s Dream
Protoevangelium of James · Chapter 14 of 29 · 3 passages
1Joseph was very afraid and kept quiet about her while considering what to do. He said, “If I hide her sin, I will be found resisting the law of the Lord. But if I reveal her to the people of Israel, I am afraid that what is inside her might be angelic, and I will be found handing innocent blood over to the judgment of death. So what will I do about her? I will secretly set her free from me.”
2Night overtook him. And look! An angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Do not be afraid concerning this child, for the one within her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you will call his name ‘Jesus,’ because he will save his people from their sins.”
3Joseph arose from his sleep and glorified the God of Israel, who had given him grace. And he protected her.
