Canon 50
Overview
This canon outlines the procedure for accusing a bishop of heresy, requiring summons by other bishops and specifying penalties for non-appearance.
1Command 50: Concerning a bishop who is accused. If a bishop is accused of heresy, let righteous and holy men accuse him. Let them summon him before other bishops. If he comes and is found guilty, let him be deposed and judged by those who do not wish to be judged. If he is summoned and does not come, let them summon him again before two bishops. If he still does not come, let two bishops send three to him. If he still does not come, let them judge him, for those who do not wish to be judged are like those who are deposed, for there is no judgment without a hearing.
