Fragment 70

Apocalypse of Peter (Combined Fragments) · Fragment 65 of 81 · 1 passages

1And as we prayed, two men suddenly appeared, standing before the Lord toward the East, and we were unable to look at them. For a ray like the sun came from their faces, and their clothing shone as no human eye had ever seen. No mouth can express, nor heart conceive, the glory with which they were endowed or the beauty of their appearance. As we looked at them, we were astounded, for their bodies were whiter than any snow and redder than any rose. The red in them was mingled with the white, and I am utterly unable to express their beauty. Their hair was curly, bright, and beautiful on both their faces and shoulders, like a wreath woven from spikenard and multicolored flowers, or like a rainbow in the sky. Such was their beauty.
