Canon 80

Overview

This canon prescribes punishment for unjustly insulting a king or cursing a judge, with distinct penalties for a priest and a layman.

1Abtelis, Canon 80. Anyone who insults a king when no act of force has been committed against him, or who unjustly curses one of the judges when they have done him no wrong, shall receive a painful sentence. If he is a priest, he shall be deposed; if he is a layman, he shall be expelled.
